Residents Of Chandler, TX Sound Off About A New Starbucks Coming To Town
You Can Find A Starbucks On Damn Near Every Corner In Dallas and Houston But One East Texas Community Is Loudly Rejecting The Coffee Giant.
Every week in Tyler we get news of another coffee shop opening up which pretty much makes The Rose City the most Caffeinated City In East Texas. Just to prove our point, a new coffee shop named "Gregory's Coffee" announced plans to open a location inside the Broadway Square Mall recently.
And while the coffee craze continues to bring in HUNDREDS of competitors into our area, residents of the tight knit community of Chandler are letting it be know that they want any part of it.
A Press Release About A New Starbucks Coming To Chandler Has Sparked Outrage.
According to a Facebook post by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, One Rock Brokerage Firm, based in Tyler, announced the Successful Sale of a building Set to Become a Starbucks in Chandler.
The location of the new Starbucks is right next to Brookshire’s alongside Highway 31, in the building previously used by Texas Famous Fried Chicken with plans to open up this fall.
Officials Are Calling It "a significant boost to the local economy, promising to create new jobs and serve as a new social hub for residents and visitors alike."
The post went on to add: "The choice of Chandler for the new Starbucks location reflects the city's vibrant growth and the attractiveness of East Texas as a region brimming with opportunities."
While some residents welcomed the new addition, others weren't too happy about the news and they let their outrage be know in the comment section below the post. With some sharing concerns for other local small businesses and others sharing their concerns over potential traffic hiccups.
