Mental Health Awareness is something that has just now begun to gain consciousness on a national level and its something that many in East Texas continue to deal with.

Thankfully, there are lots of folks in our area who are doing what they can to let folks know about the plight many feel when they think there's no other option than taking their own life. Several East Texas artists are bringing their talents together to bring awareness to the issue of suicide, a problem which struck close to home for one of the organizers and performers of this upcoming event.

Chad X Ali is a multidimensional artist from Tyler who began creating music in 2015 and has since traveled across the United States sharing his music from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. Along with writing and producing his own music, Chad is also a  screenwriter and filmmaker with his wife. His latest EP, FREEDOM, has been streamed in over 13 countries and his film of the same name won Best Cinematography in the Alternative Film Festival in 2020. Along with being a creative artist, Chad also coaches high school football here in East Texas.

Chad along with artists Micheal Guinn, J. Harmony, Rsewrld, Shaad, and Rey'N will be performing at Drizzy's Heart Legacy Concert benefiting the Promise Academy in Tyler on August 6th at True Vine Brewing Company beginning at 7:00 PM.

The concert is in honor of Dreak “The Great” Scott who was a beautiful son, brother, uncle, and friend. On August 5th, 2020 committed suicide which left his family and friends devastated, but his loved ones want to uphold his legacy with this special event.

All proceeds will benefit students of The Promise Academy in Tyler, an organization that Dreak often hosted fundraisers to help clothe and feed the students and after his passing, they decided to show their gratitude for his kind heart by creating a book in his memory. Your ticket purchase acts as an donation to complete the printing and distribution of the students book.

Tickets are available at Eventbrite right now by clicking here. Melz sat down with Chad to discuss the show and more in the interview below from The Melz On The MIC Podcast available on demand.
