Now that Hurricane Harvey has left the Gulf Coast, many families are coming back to their homes to salvage and restore what they can after the storm.  However, during this difficult time we have seen as many Americans come together to show support by volunteering as well as sending donations and supplies to assist the people of Texas in their time of need. Well America's football team also lent a helping hand.

The Dallas Cowboys cancelled preseason game with the Houston Texans left an opportunity during that timeframe to help out with Harvey Relief.

Cowboys held practice on Thursday night, but instead of drills, players took phone donations to help raise money for Hurricane Harvey. Cowboys veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant, quarterback Dak Prescott, and other players assisted in their efforts to raise money, but Dez received a call and received a generous donation, all caught on camera.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones called Dez, shared a nice conversation and then donated
$1 million dollars to the relief fund of Hurricane Harvey.  Bryant said in a statement:

I think this is super cool.  We're able to help one another. I hate that this situation had to happen, but the good thing about it is it brings unity. This is the perfect opportunity to show unity.

Team officials said through everyone’s donation they were able to raise more than $2 million dollars for the Salvation Army and NBC DFW reported they also donated $500,000 in merchandise to Harvey Evacuees.

During difficult times, we have witnessed the best in people coming together to help their fellow man and if you want more information on how you can donate to the Hurricane Harvey relief fund you can do so by clicking here.
