Dallas police officer Amber Guyger has been arrested and charged with manslaughter after she shot and killed and unarmed African American male in his apartment last week.

According to CBS News, the Texas Department of Public Safety, announced Guyger was booked in the Kaufman County Jail and expected to post bail at $300,000 and be released.

The officer who is white killed 26-year-old Botham Jean last Thursday (September 6) after she was returning home from her job and went to the wrong apartment and entered Jean’s apartment in which she thought was an intruder and shot him.

Police Chief Renee Hall said in a statement:

Right now, there are more questions than answers.  We understand the concerns of the community. That is why we are working as vigorously and meticulously as we can to ensure the integrity of the case and the department is upheld.

The investigation is on going and no other information is available.

Botham Jean will be buried on the Caribbean Island Thursday.
