Research highlights higher rates of chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and obesity within this community, often attributed to socioeconomic factors, access to healthcare, and genetic predispositions.
A New Study Is Being Conducted To Help Study The Effects Of More Movement By African Americans.
The Harmony & Health study is looking for Black adults living in the Longview area to participate in a study aiming to reduce sitting time and improve psychosocial wellbeing.
The study involves participating in mind-body relaxation or health education sessions twice a week for 8 weeks and completing three assessments with their study team.
Participants will be compensated for their time.
And as a nice cool perk, participants will be provided with a Fitbit wrist-worn device.
This study will take place in Longview, Texas, and is being conducted by researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Here are the requirements:
- Open Ages 18 or Older
- Identify As Black/African American
- Are English Speaking.
