As an avid online dater (Tinder, Bumble, OKCupid and recently considering something called hater - where people match based on things they mutually hate), I've learned to be extremely cautious when setting up dates. Some say that's overkill but highspeedinternet.com came up with a list of the safest and most dangerous states for online dating.

Well, Texas isn't in the top 10 most dangerous so that's good. But it wasn't in the safest top 10 either as it claimed No. 14 most dangerous. Considering I moved from California a few years ago, I basically went from No. 15 most dangerous to No. 14 - so it's a step in the right direction, I guess.

Now our East Texas neighbors did crack the top 10. Louisiana was ranked No. 3 on the most dangerous list and Arkansas wasn't far behind as the 7th most dangerous state.

The study:

...analyzed the FBI’s cybercrime and violent crime rates per capita for each state, as well as the CDC’s reported cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea, the most common STDs in America. We adjusted this data to account for population, then correlated our stats with various demographic information from Gallup and other sources.

In my experience, it's all about being smart. Meet in public and preferably during daylight for the first date. It just makes sense!

By the way, while researching I also discovered that Texas' most popular dating app is called Down. Anyone ever use this before? I've never even heard of it.
