Ice Cube And L.L. Cool J To Bid On 22 Sports TV Stations

Two of my favorite M.C.’s is joining forces and I’m excited about it!

According to TMZ, L.L. Cool J and Ice Cube and forming a partnership with the anticipation of bidding on 22 regional sports channels the Justice Department is forcing Disney to sell following their $71 billion acquisition of 21^st Century Fox.

Since Disney is the majority owner of ESPN, officials said they probably shouldn’t be permitted to control 22 stations because they will eventually have monopolized the entire market.

L.L. and Cube are looking to bid on the channels, which includes New York based YES Network.

Per Complex, other bidders are interested including a private equity group called Apollo Global Management and the Sinclair Broadcast Group, but Ice Cube and L.L. have also teamed up with billionaire Carolyn Rafaelian which gives them a nice advantage.

The deal for all 22 stations is expected to reach as low as $15 billion and as high as $5 billion.
