Dennis Edwards soul legend of the Motown group The Temptations with hit “Cloud 9”, “Can’t Get Next To You”, and “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” passed away today at the age of 74.

CBS News Chicago confirmed the news that the soul singer passed away a day before his 75th birthday.  Edwards joined the Temptations to replace David Ruffin in 1968 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Edwards started his solo career in 1984 and his solo album “Don’t Look Any Further” reached #2 on the R&B charts.

Dennis Edwards was married to Ruth Pointer from the Pointer Sisters from 1976 - 1977 and have one daughter Issa Pointer.
