One of the strongest recruits to come out of East Texas in 2013, former Mt. Pleasant wide receiver KD Cannon just got a shot to prove himself on the NFL gridiron.

The Dallas Cowboys announced Wednesday that they have added Cannon to their practice squad. And since this season is pretty much over with a modest, yet solid 8-7 record, it's safe to say the Boys are already looking at how to expand their roster for 2018.

The former Tiger, who was listed as a top-5 wide receiver in the country in 2013, committed to Baylor for college ball, and had an impressive run with the Bears. According to KLTV, he finished three seasons at Baylor with over 3,100 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns.

Hopefully, he'll get a chance to prove himself worthy of the Cowboys uniform so we can all root him on from our TV sets in East Texas.

All I'm saying is it would be awesome to see Pat Mahomes (who gets his first start Sunday) on the Chiefs take on the Cowboys with Cannon lined up at the line of scrimmage.
