Going to the State Fair of Texas is a tradition for me and my daughters. Every year we look forward to going to the State Fair of Texas on the State Fair Classic day. Last year due to COVID-19 we were unable to attend because they canceled all of the events but this year, it was on and poppin.

This year me and my daughter's made a real day of this. I had to work for 8 hours earlier and they came with me. We decided to dress alike, so we were out there twinning, or should I say trippling.

Once we entered the State Fair of Texas we headed strait to the Cotton Bowl. We were already three and a half hours late, so we wanted to catch what we could. Once we got to our seats, we were able to catch the last ten minutes of the game.

For the fourth year in a row the Prairie View A&M Panthers defeated the Grambling State Tigers. One of our favorite parts of the game is the battle of the bands. Most people don't know that there are two battles. One at half time and one at the end of the game. We of course missed half time but we were able to catch the one at the end.

Since PV won, they started with their fight song followed by GSU's fight song. Then GSU kicked it off and PV answered. It was amazing and you really needed to be there to experience it.

I was a little disappointed with the exits of both bands. Usually there is a little more fanfare from the drum majors and band members.

After we exited the Cotton Bowl we made our way to the midway, not to ride the rides but to eat all of the food.

The lights are beautiful in the midway and they keep them on all night long. We have the opportunity to enjoy the lights in person and from our home. From our roof top and window we can see the lights and the Texas Star which is the big ferris wheel.

After we admired the lights for awhile, it was time to tackle the drinks and food. That is the main reason why we came.

I started with an ice cold, thirst, quenching strawberry lemonade. Now what you have to understand is that when you are at the fair you have to shop for the best price. Strawberry Lemonade does not cost the same at all stands,

Fletcher;s actually has the best prices. I got my corn dog and strawberry lemonade for just 11 tickets. That is an absolute steal. My daughters hit some of the food stand too and they just about spent all of their tickets. I actually left with a sheet and a half of tickets.

Cotton Candy is a must for our household. We always get two bags. One for the house and one for my 92 year-old grandmother.

My oldest daughter opted to get regular lemonade from a stand in the midway.

She also wanted something to eat. As we were walking out of the State Fair of Texas we came across a set of concessions that had specialty foods. She decided to get some regular french fries.

We can not forget about the baby. She always has to go above and beyond. She got the Philly Cheese Steak Fries. That purchase almost broke the bank, but it was worth it because they were the best.
