On Wednesday afternoon, 36 year old rap star Young Dolph was shot in killed in broad daylight outside of a cookie shop in his hometown of Memphis. Born Adolph Robert Thorton Jr., the father of two children, had been in the rap game for over a decade, dropping his first mixtape, Paper Route Campaign, 13 years ago. In 2010, he released Welcome to Dolph World, which is the same year he launched his Paper Route Empire label.

While most of Dolph's music spoke of "violence" and the dangers of the street, he was recognized by many for his charity and philanthropic work in his hometown of Memphis and elsewhere.

He set up the IdaMae Family Foundation, Inc., named after his grandmother and it was reported on Monday, the day before his untimely death, the he visited a cancer treatment center and had been setting up turkey drives for people in Memphis all this week with artists on his PRE label ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

His charity also extended out to his fans in Texas.

One lucky fan, Jack Davila from Dallas, Texas, received a 2018 Lamborghini Aventador, from Young Dolph after winning a promotional contest in 2020.

Driving around in a $400,000 car isn't optimal if you're still working a regular 9-5 so the Davila went on to sell the it so she could buy a home for her growing family with the blessing and approval of Young Dolph who, when he heard the news, tweeted to the family "GET PAID".

We send out heartfelt condolences to Young Dolph's family, friends and many fans on his tragic passing.
