It’s a great time of the year, because each night the sun is setting later and later.

On Saturday the 8th of February, the sun will set at 6:00 p.m! Things only get better from here. By the end of the month the sunset will be at 6:18 p.m, and it keeps getting later and later from there. Then in early March we “spring forward”. On March 7th, sunset will be at 6:23 p.m, but the next day it will be at 7:24 p.m!

Sunset will get later through the end of June. The latest sunset in Tyler is on June 28th, at 8:32 p.m.

On top of that, the sunrise is happening earlier and earlier. It’s set to be at 7:00 a.m on the 19th of February, and it keeps getting earlier from there. The earliest sunrise here in Tyler will be on June 11th when the sun comes up at 6:13 a.m.

With the sunset happening later and later… and the sunrise happening earlier and earlier, we of course see more daylight hours. This weekend we’ll see around 10 hours and 50 minutes of daylight. But by June 20th, which is also the summer solstice, we will see 14 hours 16 minutes and 31 seconds of daylight.
