Today in Black History: Obama Announces Presidential Campaign

Barack Obama formally announced the start of his historic presidential campaign in Springfield, IL, on this date in 2007.

Barack Hussein Obama II is a Harvard Law School graduate and served as the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.  He later went on the become the first African American president of the United States.  He served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009-2017.
