Today We Celebrate The 6th Day Of Kwanzaa – KUUMBA
Today (December 31st) we are celebrating the last day of 2019 and we are also celebrating the sixth day of Kwanzaa.
For the past 5 days we have been learning about the holiday that focuses on the family, community, and culture created by Dr. Maulana Karanga who is a professor of African Studies around the Nguzo Saba (The Seven Principles) according their website.

- Ujima – Collective Work and Responsibility
- Ujamaa – Cooperative Economics
- Nia – Purpose
- Kuumba – Creativity
- Imani - Faith
We light the green candle today for Kuumba which means "creativity."
In 2020 we should use our energy to create, build and preserve a strong and vibrant community.
It displays commitment to being creative within of the complex of the national community vocation of restoring our people to their traditional greatness and leaving our communities more beneficial and beautiful than each generation that inherited it.
The Tyler Public Library is hosting their annual Kwanzaa celebration at 6 p.m.
