If you're catching a flight during the 4th of July holiday you may want to leave for the airport a bit earlier than usual. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says Friday (June 29th) could potentially be "one of the busiest days ever" for their organization.

Fox News report, the group predicts that between Thursday (June 28th) and July 9th, 28.3 million passengers and crew members will be screened, with 2.7 million of them being screened today alone.

Driving these numbers, of course, if the Fourth of July holiday, which is Wednesday. In a news conference Wednesday (June 27th), TSA Administrator David Pekoske told media outlets there could be an hour wait at some airports, depending on the weather and volume of flyers.

We collectively between the TSA, airports and airlines are ready for the passenger travel that we predict.

He also acknowledged that TSA agents are prepared for the increase. Security officials also remind passengers that they will increase the screening of powdered substances in carry-on bags on international flights headed to the U.S. starting Saturday (June 30th.)

The agency advises travelers to download the MyTSA app, which gives access to airport security information.
