A group of friends from East Texas went to Dallas recently for a birthday celebration and sadly, one of them would not make it back home after he was shot to death. The incident was caught on video the suspects involved just so happened to be with a Dallas Cowboys player and police have now made arrests in the case.

Cameron Ray, 20, was shot and killed along Lower Greenville while visiting Dallas.

According to a report from KDFW, Ray, who is from Athens, Texas, had come to Dallas with three friends for a fun weekend on March 18. Police that Ray and his friends were doing nothing wrong that night and were just walking up the street, when a disturbance broke out. Surveillance video showed a man, who was smoking, walked past Ray and his friends, before waiting for them to say something and then throwing a punch. After the fight is finished, Ray and his friends walked to their vehicle.

Someone in a black SUV opened fire on him. Ray was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police reviewed surveillance footage and found that one of the men involved with the fight was wearing a necklace with the letters YKDV. Turns out YKDV is the "rapper nickname" for Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph.

The 22-year-old was a second-round draft pick by the Cowboys in 2021.

During his rookie season with Dallas, Joseph played mostly on special teams, but was a starter later in the year. Dallas Police released the footage to the public in the hopes of identifying the suspects and most of the tips came in about Joseph due to his "chain". Police questioned the player at his attorney's office according to WFAA.

Joseph's Attorney Says That Cowboys Player Was In The Suspect Vehicle But Was Not The Trigger Man.

Attorney Barry Sorrels who represents Joseph says Joseph "found himself in a situation that escalated without his knowledge or consent." Almost a month into the case, police over the weekend arrested 28-year-old Aries Jones and 21-year-old Tivione English, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They turned themselves into police after they were identified as the shooters.
