If you were on social media over the weekend the hashtag #WakandaForever was probably flooding your news feed. It seemed like everybody went to the movie theater to see Marvel’s Black Panther dominate the box office,  grossing $192 million during its debut Friday through Sunday run in U.S. theaters.

I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the funny mishaps throughout the weekend as well. According to NY Daily News, one movie theater in Atlanta mistakenly showed the film “50 Shades Freed”, which instantly didn’t sit well with the audience.  However, there is another story that is both insane, innovative and pretty much straight out of a cartoon.

Boston 25 News reported on two kids who didn’t want to pay for their movie tickets to see the Marvel film, so they tried a different route - the mischievous duo appeared as “tall man” where one sat on the other's shoulder under a trench coat. Unfortunately their diabolical scheme was foiled by the manager. Nevertheless, the hilarious stunt has gone viral on social media. Twitter user Pillsbury wrote:

We tried getting the two for one special at black panther. The manager was not having it.

Did they get a chance to see the movie?  I don’t have the answer to that, but I know if I saw them attempt to pull that stunt, I would have paid for their tickets AND some popcorn.

I had the opportunity to see it with some co-workers and the excitement was in the air as many individuals came out in Black Panther gear (like myself, Michael and Jason from sister station KNUE). Movie goers in African gear symbolized ‘Black Pride’ and had a real feel good moment throughout the weekend. Oh, and not to mention the movie was just fantastic.

Go see the movie!
