The convention was done virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Texas native Eva Longoria Baston was the emcee for the evening and the primary theme of the night was the coronavirus, racial justice, and the United States Post Office controversy.

Democrats wasted no time presenting their case to the American people as they slammed President Trump over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and warned the worst is yet to come if re-elected.

The some of the key speakers included Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd who was killed in Minnesota by a police officer, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Former Republican Governor of Ohio John Kasich, South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn and many others.

However, all eyes were on the former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama who gave a passionate message on how we need to move forward from the current administration and vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Her speech gave me chills as she made it crystal clear on the direction America should go.  More so like the mother who instead of chastising her child she gives a reassuring message that "We are better than what we are displaying."

She also gave clarity to her known phrases from 2016 "When they go low, we go high."

Going high does not mean putting on a smile and saying nice things when confronted by viciousness and cruelty. Going high means taking the harder path. It means scraping and clawing our way to that mountain top.

The way the former FLOTUS spoke was so radiant that it gave us a sign of hope that change could be coming in the upcoming election.

I am inspired again that once again this nation could live up to the true meaning of it's creed as what Dr. King was talking about in his famous "I have a dream" speech where he said "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

With great anticipation I am looking forward to the remaining speakers for the DNC especially from Senator Kamala Harris on tonight and of course former President Barack Obama on Thursday.

With less than 90 days until the Presidential Election it is very important to know your voter registration status and by any means necessary like Michelle Obama said pack a breakfast, lunch or even dinner and VOTE!

Check out the rest of the line up and performances of the Democratic National Convention including Senator Kamala Harris as she accepts the nomination of Vice President of the Democratic Party tonight (August 18th).
