Singer Leela James Talks About Her Texas Roots
Before Leela James Takes The Stage In Dallas On August 5th, Melz On The MIC Talked To Her About Her Texas Roots.
James was the focus of a special episode of Unsung on TVOne. Leela opened up about her long journey to the top, the challenges along the way and her joy juggling motherhood and music today.
Leela's sound and voice have been compared to all time greats like Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight but her road to stardom has been filled with bad moves by record labels trying to get her to change her "image" and other factors.
But she still found her way to success with several smash hits including "Say That", "Don't Want You Back" and "Fall For You". James was born in Los Angeles, but her parents are from Texas and she credits her Lone Star roots for blessing her with such a soulful sound and voice.
Melz On The MIC talked to James recently about the show and her roots in Texas where she lives now and continues to push forward with new music. We even talk about her attempts at "Tik Tok' and her song "Complicated" on The Melz On The MIC Podcast.
