Texas which is a key hub for drug trafficking due to its proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border, continues to face significant challenges in combatting the illegal drug trade.

But that doesn't mean that law enforcement is giving up on the fight as folks from out of state are learning the hard way after the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office arrested 3 people in SEPERATE traffic stops on drug charges.

Police Report Says They Seized 10 Pounds Of Cocaine.

According to police, around 8:50 p.m. Monday, NCSO deputies pulled over Desean Hyken Lee Williams, 33, of Flint, Michigan, for traffic violations observed in the 1700 block of S.W. Stallings Drive, and noticed the smell of marijuana.

When asked about it, Williams told deputies he’d smoked earlier and that there might be marijuana inside the vehicle. Deputies began a probable-cause search of the car, and found two plastic-wrapped bundles of powder, which tested positive for cocaine.

Williams was taken into custody and charged with a first-degree felony for possession of a controlled substance. The combined weight of the packages was 5.2 lbs.

The NEXT Day, Deputies Found More Cocaine During Another Traffic Stop.

On Tuesday, deputies made a traffic stop in the 1700 block of S.W. Stallings Drive for a traffic violation, where they contacted Quinntez Maurice Banks, 33, of Clinton, Michigan, and Sasithorn Boohom, 25, of Brighton, Michigan.

During a probable-cause search of the vehicle, deputies located two packages of narcotics which tested positive as cocaine, as well as a large amount of U.S. currency. The combined weight of the packages was 4.7 lbs.

Banks and Boohom were taken into custody and both charged with first-degree felonies for possession of a controlled substance.

Banks and Boohom remained in custody as of Wednesday afternoon. Banks’ bond was set at $50,000 and Boohom’s was set at $40,000. Williams posted bond, which a judge had set at $50,000, and was released Tuesday afternoon.
