When you mention the quiet storm, or slow jams during the 80's one familiar name comes to mind and that is Shirley Murdock.

Dubbed the "Queen of Quiet Storm" the R&B legend will be featured tonight on TV One's Unsung and she gave me all the details of her upcoming episode.

Ms. Murdock is a rare singer-songwriter since her humble beginnings with Zapp and Roger Troutman with their classic hit "Computer Love" which catapulted her into stardom with her own hits "As We Lay", "Can't Go On Without You", and "Husband", but with a roller coaster ride of ups and downs including tragedy would turn her world upside down.

We talked about how she wasn't supposed to record the hit song "As We Lay" and even the shocking murder suicide of the Troutman brothers in 1999 to holding on to her faith in God alone is a powerful testimony of his goodness and grace.

Now as Evangelist Shirley DeGroat she continues to tour and take us down memory lane with her classics, but always find a way to leave a message of hope and God's love to keep us grounded daily.

Check out Unsung featuring Shirley Murdock tonight at 8 p.m on TV One.
