Since 1983, on every third Monday of January, the entire nation remembers the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  He was a drum major for justice as he fought against the many injustices against African Americans and today his dream still lives on, especially here in East Texas.

Join Tyler Together on Monday January 15th (which would have been Martin Luther King Jr.’s 89th birthday) for their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Interfaith Community Celebration.  The 32nd Annual “Make Justice a Reality” program begins at 9 a.m. as they meet on the Square and the march begins at 9:30 a.m.  Individuals and groups are encouraged to bring their banners and signs and participate in the march to the church.

The program will culminate at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 10 a.m. featuring keynote speaker Frances Cudjoe Waters. Ms. Waters is a national speaker, Minister, and Parenting and Education Planning Expert.

Tyler Together Race Relations will also partner with UT-Tyler University for their “2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Forum” on Tuesday evening January 16th on the UT-Tyler Campus beginning at 6:30 p.m. Leading the forum is National Recognized Speaker Joshua Fredenburg.  He is also an author of five books, Tedx Speaker, Television Guest Expert, and President of the Award Winning Circle of Change Leadership Conference.

Let freedom ring, be uplifted and inspired as we continue to keep Dr. King’s Dream alive.
